Synopsis: Surrounded by the hate-filled gazes of her people, the selfish princess of the fallen Tearmoon Empire, Mia, takes one last look at the bleeding sun before the guillotine blade falls… Only to wake back up as a twelve-year-old! With time rewound and a second chance at life dropped into her lap, she sets out to right the countless wrongs that plague the ailing Empire. Corrupt governance? Check. Border troubles? Check. Natural calamities and economic strife? Check. My, seems like a lot of work. Hard work and Mia don't mix, so she seeks out the aid of others, starting with her loyal maid, Anne, and the brilliant minister, Ludwig. Together, they strive day and night to restore the Empire. Little by little, their tireless efforts begin to change the course of history, pushing the whole of the continent toward a new future. And why did the selfish princess have a change of heart, you ask? Simple--she didn't. She's just terrified of the guillotine. They hurt like hell, and Mia hates pain more than work.

[…] Tearmoon Empire, Vol. 1 is the first volume to the fantasy-comedy series where a princess gets a second lease on life and tries her darned best to avoid a gruesome fate. This series follows Mia Luna Tearmoon, the princess of the Tearmoon Empire, in a post-guillotine’d life in which she aims to become a better person(?). For petty revenge and homemade lunches, Mia uses her future-sight to rewrite her fate and, in turn, that of her nation. Relationships, new and old, blossom and become more than she could have ever imagined. Nozomu Mochitsuki creates a fantastical world filled with comedy, romance, drama, and action to tell a fun and heart-warming story of a corrupt princess turned good(?). Accompanying them are beautiful illustrations by Gilse whose quantity, detail, and expressiveness pit a light-hearted atmosphere against absurd extravagance. […]

[…] Tearmoon Empire, Vol. 2 is the next entry to the fantasy-comedy series where delusions are king and empty-headed princesses stumble their way into a brighter future. This series continues following Mia Luna Tearmoon, of the titular empire, on her quest to not get her head lopped off. Vol. 2 brings us closure to the events of Vol. 1 and throws us into the flames of a revolution igniting in Renmo. For her love of sweets, baths, and young boys(?!), Mia will rewrite not only her fate but that of her friends(?) and their nations. Nozomu Mochitsuki pushes us to explore their fantastical world with comedy, drama, and action at every turn. Alongside them are the beautiful illustrations by Gilse whose style gives life to every character and the story’s light-hearted atmosphere. What changes will the sequel to Vol. 1’s heartwarming story bring to our lazy, sucrose-deprived princess? […]
[…] Tearmoon Empire, Vol. 3 is the next entry to the fantasy-comedy series where empires are doomed to fall and student-council presidents are fated to become dictators – and the only thing preventing that is one (or two?) sugar-hyped princess(es). This series continues following Mia Luna Tearmoon, the Great Sage and princess of the Tearmoon Empire, on her second chance at life. However, after resolving her destined decapitation, it seems her work isn’t over just yet. With Renmo’s failed revolution telling of a deeper evil, we also find that Rafina’s counter-efforts will rend the empire apart. And instead of a bloody diary, Mia is reunited with her granddaughter in a joint-effort to stop this gruesome end. All they need to do… is get Mia elected to student-council president instead of Rafina! Nozomu Mochitsuki blends comedy, drama, and romance to tell a school-life story filled with friendship and world-ending stakes. Gilse’s beautiful illustrations also maintain the light-hearted tone and bring out the cutest of all the characters. Will we see Vol. 3 bring the series back to the heart-warming school-life of Vol. 1? […]
