Today on their Twitter feed, Seven Seas revealed they had licensed the light novel series My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's (暗殺者ã§ã‚る俺ã®ã‚¹ãƒ†ãƒ¼ã‚¿ã‚¹ãŒå‹‡è€…よりも明らã‹ã«å¼·ã„ã®ã ㌠— “Ansatsusha de Aru Ore no Status ga Yuusha yori mo Akiraka ni Tsuyoi no daga”) for their Airship imprint.
The series is written by Matsuri Akai with illustrations by Tozai. The series’s fourth volume will be released in Japan on February 25th. While this appears to be Akai’s first work, the illustrator Tozai has worked on a number of titles available in English such as Saving 80,000 Gold in an Another World for Retirement and The Eminence in Shadow.
Seven Seas gives this synopsis of the series;
When Akira's class is magically summoned to another world, he and his classmates are awarded fantastical powers–but while one of them is lucky enough to become a true Hero, Akira becomes a mere Assassin. However, against all odds, the Assassin just might be the most powerful role of all! Harboring doubts about the intentions of the king, Akira uses his newfound strength as a master of the shadows to uncover the secrets and conspiracies of the crown.
My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's will have its first volume released in print in August 2021. Expect a digital release four-to-six weeks earlier.
Seven Seas licensed the manga earlier and released the first volume in March 2020. They currently have up to volume 3 available.
