Summer Reading Program: June 2017 Schedule

Your Name, The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku

As mentioned a couple weeks ago, for June we will be reading the following novels:

  • Your Name — by Makoto Shinkai
  • The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku — by Muya Agami (with art by Yunagi)

We will discuss these two books over the course of June! There will be two posts this time instead of the typical three, because 1) Your Name is really short (less than 200 pages), and 2) I need more time for my copy of the Hatsune Miku book to arrive since it just released at the very end of May and I’m in Japan.

June 14

  • Your Name — read up to chapter five, “Memories.” You will need to read chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4 by June 14th.
  • The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku — read up to the chapter titled “07/05 Thur 11:30” on page 145. In other words, read all the chapters that cover the dates “06/18” to “07/04.”

June 28

  • Your Name — read the rest of the novel. You will need to read chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8 by June 28th.
  • The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku — read the rest of the novel — i.e. the chapters covering the dates “07/05” to “04/16.”

If you have not picked up these books yet, there’s still time! Here are the links for you if there isn’t a good bookstore nearby:

Be sure to leave comments when the discussion posts go live! Also, if you are in the mood for more Oregairu discussion, don’t forget there is an Open Forum going for volume 2 right now as well. Hope you all have a good time reading some light novels this summer! (´・ω・`)
