Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi 2021 Top 10 Tankobon Light Novels

Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi 2021 Cover

Welcome to another article in our ongoing coverage of Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi 2021!

These are the Top 10 Tankobon books as ranked in the newest edition. Interestingly, the top spot goes to a new title. However, last year’s top 2 books still remain in the top 3.

This list has far more fantasy/isekai titles than the Bunkobon list. Half the list is already licensed for English release.

Also, I had to rely a little more on machine translation for some of the book blurbs. I apologize in advance if they sound a little…off.

Majo no Tabitabi / Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina / 魔女の旅々

Written by: Jougi Shiraishi / Illustrated by: Azure

What’s your favorite story? Does it have a hero who slays a dragon and saves a princess? Or a child of prophecy destined for greatness? Well, my favorite story is a little different. It’s the tale of a witch who travels the world, seeking nothing in particular. With no quest of her own, she’s free to wander wherever the wind takes her, adding a few pages to the story of whomever she meets before setting off on her next adventure. At the end of her travels, the witch takes on an apprentice who will one day begin her own journey. And so the cycle continues, or so the story goes. Now, the witch who starts the story anew…who could she be?

  1. I don’t know what #1 is about exactly but it sure sounds fun, so like are they gonna fight amongst themselves ? A battle royale among all the heroes ? Or some other evil ?

I’ve read the first 3 parts of the book fetish girl one and while it was good I kinda disliked that crazy girl lol I also have a hard time with series where the mc is a woman …. I did like it so I’ll catch up soon.

Bought number 3 Unnamed Memory but haven’t been able to read it yet hope it’s good, it fell down 2 spots though eh ?

I’ve heard 4 is pretty good, interesting to see a Syfy series here, must be extremely good then, don’t really see that many syfy titles amongst the endless fantasy, romance, isekais we get lol.

5 I guess is from the author of unnamed memory ? Meh sounded kind of interesting but who knows, it doesn’t have anything to do with female mc.

6, I really liked the first voluke of tearmoon empire but … Second one is kind of meh really, like many others seems the author had a great idea, that he could use for 1 book, and now he’s trying his best to recapture the magic, the misunderstandings weren’t as on point as the first one and it really felt off, still good but I’m worried about volume 3 a lot.

7 sounds fucking great, another misunderstanding series maybe ? Seems like everyone idolizes mc and he just can’t catch a break, maybe a bit a la overlord? I really wanna read that one.

8 sounds fun but who knows historical series can get pretty dry … Komachi adventures is a good example that they can be fun but who knows.

9 seems kind of fun but it also seems like it’s gonna be annoying as fuck with both of them in love but die to plot reasons they’ll be 2 oblivious to it or something.

And 10 I also have bought but kinda forgot about lol, still it’s like the 3rd year wandering witch Elena has been on this list right ?

  2. 10. Elaina is wonderful, the anime is absolutely perfect, the girl is very controversial and the anime will reach “that” episode soon so looking forward to that : D
    9. I have no clue because I have not read it.
    8. No comment
    7. (Why god damn Sol Press) I am really surprised that such series ranked so high in Tankobon category, I have not read it myself and in fact have not even heard of it aside from getting licensed. I have absolutely no clue why its that high.
    6. Tearmoon Empire-great book.
    5. Ooo so its in the same world as Unnamed Memory? SO THAT IS WHY THE CELEBRATION ART HAD THESE CHARACTERS.
No clue what to say, have not read it.
    4. Honestly a very great cyber punk(?) story. There are not many LN of such genre but this one is really great, and I really hope that with the boom for Cyberpunk game, someone would license this (laugh in hope)
    3. Unnamed Memory, have not read it yet. Can’t say anything.
    2. Bookworm, Bookworm, lovely Myne’s tale of books : D
    1. Ishura is appearently an amazing battle royale series, the characters form this series have ranked quite high in the chara categories. Obviously its not for everyone but from what I heard from japanese fans the character aspect is the best thing and not the action, everyone is OP as heck, they all are heroes, half gods and freaking powerful beings.
